Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority – Lafayette, NJ
Schedule: Full-time
Annual Salary: $60,000 – $80,000
SCMUA is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mobile and mechanical equipment at its Solid Waste Facilities. This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, inspecting, lubricating, and troubleshooting heavy equipment, including diesel-powered vehicles and facility machinery. The successful candidate will assist with equipment installations, welding, maintenance record keeping, housekeeping of equipment, and emergency response activities as needed. The position requires the ability to work independently, diagnose mechanical issues, and maintain safe and efficient operation of SCMUA’s solid waste equipment.

Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator – Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority – Lafayette, NJ

Annual Salary:
Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator I – Grade 7 ($50,000 – $65,000)
Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator II – Grade 8 ($65,000 – $75,000)
Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator III – Grade 9 ($75,000 – $85,000)
The Solid Waste Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and support of the Sussex County Municipal Utilities Authority’s (SCMUA) Sanitary Landfill, Bulky Waste Processing Facility, and associated solid waste management facilities. Operators perform a variety of skilled heavy equipment operations and related maintenance activities necessary to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and the effective management of solid waste operations.
